Activity 4: Harmonization of Quality of Information Services of RIS

Countries involved: AT, BG, HU, NL, SK

The introduction, monitoring and management of Quality of Information Services (QoIS), as benchmark for the performance of systems and quality of the data is essential to the acceptance of RIS services. Users will only rely on RIS services and introduce those in their daily operational processes, when sufficient and guaranteed service levels are established. The quality of data of RIS services can be expressed in terms of accuracy, reliability, age, correctness, completeness etc. Closely related to those terms are the quality criteria of service facilities, which can in general be determined by availability, reliability, security etc. Subsequently, a selected and agreed se of measures for QoIS will be specified and implemented as pilot installations with the specific RIS technologies in countries involved.

The specific objectives within activity 4 are:

  • SuAc 4.1: Definition of QoIS in the RIS Context

(SuAc leaders: Jos van Splunder, RWS, Netherlands, jos.van.splunder(at)rws.nl and Mario Kaufmann, via donau, Austria, mario.kaufmann(at)via-donau.org)

  • SuAc 4.2: Pilot implementation of QoIS for Notices to Skippers
  • SuAc 4.3: Pilot implementation of QoIS for Electronic Reporting
  • SuAc 4.4: Pilot implementation of QoIS for national RIS Indices
  • SuAc 4.5: Pilot implementation of QoIS for Vessel Tracking and Tracing
