This website provides detailed information on the concept of RIS and the IRIS Europe project. The site also presents project results and informs you on news and events related to the project and general RIS issues. Therefore the website provides useful information for RIS newcomers as well as RIS experts, IRIS Europe project partners and any other interested party involved in Inland navigation.

IRIS Europe is co-funded by the European Union in the frame of the TEN-T Programme and the Ministries of Transport from Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Romania and Bulgaria. The project consortium consists of partners from the mentioned countries as well as interested parties from 4 other Danube countries which are integrated as cooperation partners within IRIS Europe.

IRIS Europe is set up as a Europe-wide project in order to expand the functionality of River Information Services on the European waterway network. The project addresses on the elimination of existing bottlenecks and intends to define the additional functionality in the field of River Information Services (RIS) in the Danube and Rhine-Seine region. The project focuses especially on cross-border information services and the related data exchange and procedures. Newly developed RIS Services such as traffic and transport information exchange, hull data exchange and calamity abatement service will be validated by means of pilot installations, which will be interconnected among each other.
